Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, bring the milk or water to a gentle boil over medium heat.
- Stir in the oats, diced or grated apple, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 5–7 minutes or until the oats are tender and creamy.
- Stir in maple syrup, butter, and vanilla extract if using. Adjust sweetness to taste.
- Remove from heat and let sit for 1 minute to thicken slightly.
- Serve warm, topped with extra apple, cinnamon, chopped nuts, or a drizzle of maple syrup if desired.
