Ingredients
- For the Apple Fritters:
- 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or similar), peeled, cored, and chopped
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- Vegetable oil, for frying
For the Glaze (Optional):
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Prepare apples: Peel, core, and chop apples into bite-sized pieces.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter until smooth.
- Combine batter: Stir wet mixture into dry ingredients until just combined (do not overmix). Fold in chopped apples.
- Heat oil: In a deep skillet or pan, heat 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry fritters: Drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil. Fry 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove with slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Make glaze (optional): Whisk powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and pinch of salt until smooth.
- Serve: Drizzle glaze over fritters or dust with powdered sugar. Serve warm.
