Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 clove garlic, minced
- 4 burger buns
- 2 ripe avocados, sliced
- 1 cup lettuce or arugula
- 1–2 tomatoes, sliced
- 1/2 red onion, sliced (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or cooking spray
- For the Chipotle Yogurt Sauce:
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 1–2 canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced (or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder)
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix ground meat with salt, pepper, and garlic. Form into 4 burger patties.
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the surface and cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked.
- Meanwhile, make the chipotle yogurt sauce by blending Greek yogurt, chipotle peppers, lime juice, garlic, honey (if using), and salt until smooth. Adjust to taste.
- Toast the burger buns if desired.
- To assemble: spread chipotle yogurt sauce on the bottom bun, add lettuce, cooked patty, avocado slices, tomato, and red onion if using. Top with more sauce and the top bun.
- Serve immediately with your favorite sides.
