Description

Braided Sesame Bread with Chicken is a golden, fluffy bread filled with a savory chicken mixture, braided for a beautiful presentation, and topped with sesame seeds. It’s both visually stunning and hearty enough to serve as a full meal.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 tsp yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 egg (for dough)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded or finely chopped
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup bell peppers, diced (optional)
  • 1 cup cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or feta)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce or seasoning blend
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, egg, and olive oil. Knead into a smooth, elastic dough (8–10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes in a mixer). Cover and let rise 1–2 hours until doubled.
  3. Meanwhile, sauté onion, garlic, and bell peppers. Stir in chicken, season with soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Let filling cool, then mix in cheese.
  4. Roll dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Place chicken filling down the center.
  5. Cut 1-inch slits along both sides of the dough, then braid strips over filling to enclose it.
  6. Transfer to a baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp ~190°F).
  8. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

Don’t overfill the braid—too much filling may cause splitting. For a quick version, use puff pastry instead of bread dough.Rotisserie chicken works great for convenience and flavor.Brush with melted butter after baking for extra softness.
