Ingredients
-
6 cups brioche bread, cut into cubes
-
4 large eggs
-
2 cups milk
-
½ cup heavy cream
-
½ cup granulated sugar
-
¼ cup brown sugar
-
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
-
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-
¼ teaspoon salt
-
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish with butter.
-
Place the brioche cubes evenly in the prepared baking dish.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
-
Pour the custard mixture evenly over the brioche cubes, making sure all the bread pieces are soaked.
-
Gently press the bread down so it absorbs the custard mixture.
-
If desired, sprinkle raisins or chocolate chips over the mixture.
-
Drizzle melted butter over the top.
-
Let the mixture sit for 10–15 minutes so the bread fully absorbs the custard.
-
Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
-
Remove from the oven and allow the bread pudding to cool slightly before serving.
-
Serve warm with powdered sugar, whipped cream, or a drizzle of caramel or vanilla sauce.
Notes
Slightly stale brioche bread works best because it absorbs the custard more effectively.Avoid adding too much liquid to prevent the pudding from becoming soggy.Let the pudding rest for a few minutes after baking so it slices more easily.A drizzle of caramel sauce or vanilla sauce adds extra indulgence.
