Description

Cardamom Cake is a soft, fragrant cake infused with warm cardamom spice. Moist and subtly sweet, it’s a comforting treat perfect for tea time or dessert. Easy to make and customizable, this versatile cake is ideal for holidays, brunches, or cozy everyday baking.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (or 1/2 cup neutral oil)
  • 1/2 cup milk or plain yogurt
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 11 1/2 tsp ground cardamom (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Optional: powdered sugar or cardamom glaze for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan, bundt pan, or 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
  3. Add melted butter (or oil), milk (or yogurt), and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, ground cardamom, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze before serving, if desired.

Notes

Use freshly ground cardamom for the most vibrant flavor.Substitute half the sugar with brown sugar for a deeper, molasses-like flavor.Add lemon or orange zest for a citrusy twist.This cake pairs well with tea, coffee, or poached fruit.To make dairy-free, use plant-based milk and oil instead of butter.
