Description

Carne asada fries are a hearty, indulgent dish made with crispy fries topped with juicy marinated steak, melted cheese, and fresh, flavorful toppings. Perfect for sharing or enjoying as a filling meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb potatoes or frozen french fries
  • 1 lb flank steak or skirt steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup guacamole or sliced avocado
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons sliced green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, marinate the steak with olive oil, lime juice, garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Cook the fries according to package instructions or bake homemade fries until golden and crispy.
  3. Grill or pan-sear the steak over high heat until cooked to desired doneness.
  4. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
  5. Spread the cooked fries on a large oven-safe platter or baking dish.
  6. Top the fries with sliced carne asada and sprinkle evenly with cheese.
  7. Place under the broiler for 2 to 3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  8. Remove from the oven and finish with sour cream, guacamole, cilantro, and green onions before serving.

Notes

Slice the steak against the grain for maximum tenderness.Add toppings just before serving to keep fries crispy.Great for sharing but filling enough to serve as a main dish.
