Description

Carne Asada Fries are a crave-worthy fusion dish featuring crispy fries topped with marinated grilled steak, melted cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and fresh pico de gallo—perfect for parties, game day, or a bold dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Russet potatoes (or 1 bag frozen French fries)
  • 1 lb skirt steak or flank steak
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeño, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar or Mexican cheese blend
  • 1/2 cup guacamole
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup pico de gallo
  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, lime juice, garlic, jalapeño, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add steak to the marinade, toss to coat, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  3. Prepare fries: Bake or fry potatoes according to package directions or until golden and crispy. Set aside.
  4. Grill steak over medium-high heat for 4–5 minutes per side until desired doneness. Let rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
  5. Place fries on a serving tray or baking sheet. Sprinkle with shredded cheese and broil for 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted.
  6. Top cheesy fries with sliced carne asada, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, and green onions if using.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy immediately.

Notes

Use frozen fries to save time—thick-cut or steak fries hold toppings best. For extra spice, top with jalapeños or hot sauce.Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a lighter option.Swap carne asada with grilled mushrooms for a vegetarian version.Assemble just before serving to maintain crispiness.
