Ingredients
- 1 (30 oz) bag frozen shredded hash browns, thawed
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1 1/2 cups crushed cornflakes or crackers (optional topping)
- 2 tbsp melted butter (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the thawed hash browns, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, melted butter, chopped onion, salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using).
- Mix until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- If using a topping, mix the crushed cornflakes or crackers with 2 tablespoons of melted butter and sprinkle over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, or until hot, bubbly, and golden brown on top.
- Let the casserole cool slightly before serving.
