Description
Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole combines the flavors of a classic cheeseburger with crispy tater tots. It’s a hearty, cheesy, one-pan dish that’s easy to make and a crowd-pleaser for busy weeknights or family dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 packet of taco seasoning (or 1 tablespoon homemade seasoning mix)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken soup)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Ketchup and mustard (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the diced onion to the beef and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until softened. Stir in the taco seasoning and season with salt and pepper. Add the cream of mushroom soup and milk, and stir until combined. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes to thicken slightly.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Spread the beef mixture evenly in the bottom of the dish and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese, covering the entire surface. Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy and the casserole is bubbling around the edges.
- Remove from the oven and let the casserole cool for a few minutes. Optional: drizzle ketchup and mustard on top before serving for a true cheeseburger experience.
