Description
Chicken Souvlaki is a classic Greek dish made with marinated chicken grilled on skewers, packed with Mediterranean flavors like lemon, garlic, and oregano. It’s perfect for weeknight dinners or weekend gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs (680g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Wooden or metal skewers
Instructions
- Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
- In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Add the chicken to the marinade and mix well to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to overnight.
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes.
- Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Cook the skewers for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is fully cooked and slightly charred.
- Serve hot with pita, tzatziki sauce, and your favorite sides.
