Description

Chocolate Banana Bread is a moist, rich, and indulgent twist on classic banana bread. Made with ripe bananas, cocoa powder, and chocolate chips, it’s the perfect comfort food for breakfast, dessert, or a midday snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (plus extra for topping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, mash the bananas. Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined—do not overmix.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle with extra chocolate chips if desired.
  7. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Use overripe bananas for the best sweetness and flavor.Do not overmix the batter to avoid a dense texture.Add walnuts or pecans for crunch.Swirl in peanut butter or Nutella before baking for extra richness.Freeze slices individually for quick snacks or breakfasts.
