Description

A giant, gooey, warm chocolate chip cookie baked in a skillet, with crispy edges and a soft center, loaded with chocolate chips. This is the ultimate indulgent treat, perfect for sharing with family or friends.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, for added texture)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10-inch cast-iron skillet or any oven-safe skillet with cooking spray or butter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Scoop the cookie dough into the prepared skillet and press it down evenly with a spatula to cover the bottom of the skillet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is still slightly soft. For a firmer cookie, bake for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. If desired, broil the cookie for 1-2 minutes for a golden top, keeping an eye on it to prevent burning.
