Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, for added texture)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10-inch cast-iron skillet or any oven-safe skillet with cooking spray or butter.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Scoop the cookie dough into the prepared skillet and press it down evenly with a spatula to cover the bottom of the skillet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is still slightly soft. For a firmer cookie, bake for an additional 5 minutes.
- If desired, broil the cookie for 1-2 minutes for a golden top, keeping an eye on it to prevent burning.
- Let the cookie cool for a few minutes before serving. Slice it directly from the skillet and enjoy! Optionally, top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
