Description

Christmas Crack is a simple, addictive holiday treat made with layers of saltine crackers, buttery toffee, and melted chocolate. It’s perfect for parties, gifting, or festive snacking.

Ingredients

  • 40 saltine crackers (enough to cover a standard baking sheet)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional toppings: crushed candy canes, chopped nuts, holiday sprinkles, sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer to fully cover the baking sheet.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar together. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and let it bubble for 3–4 minutes until thickened.
  4. Pour the hot toffee mixture over the crackers and spread evenly with a spatula.
  5. Bake for 5 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbly.
  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let sit for a few minutes until melted, then spread evenly.
  7. Add desired toppings while chocolate is still soft.
  8. Cool completely at room temperature or refrigerate until set.
  9. Break into pieces once firm and serve.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. To freeze, layer pieces with parchment paper in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.Try different cracker bases like graham crackers or Ritz for variety.Add peanut butter for a richer twist by swirling it into the melted chocolate layer.Make dairy-free by using vegan butter and chocolate chips.
