Description

Ingredients

  • 1 box white cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box: eggs, oil, water)
  • 1 (3 oz) package red gelatin (cherry or strawberry flavor)
  • 1 (3 oz) package green gelatin (lime flavor)
  • 2 cups boiling water (1 cup for each gelatin flavor)
  • 1 cup cold water (½ cup for each gelatin flavor)
  • 1 (8 oz) container whipped topping (e.g., Cool Whip)
  • Holiday sprinkles or colored sugar (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven according to cake mix instructions and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare cake batter as directed and pour into prepared dish.
  3. Bake according to package directions. Remove from oven and let cool for 15 minutes.
  4. Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes evenly across the cake surface, about 1 inch apart.
  5. Prepare red and green gelatin separately by mixing each with 1 cup boiling water and ½ cup cold water.
