Description

Churro Saltine Toffee is a quick and easy dessert that combines salty crackers, buttery toffee, and a sweet cinnamon-sugar topping for a deliciously addictive treat perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers (about 40 crackers)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and spray with nonstick spray.
  2. Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer to cover the baking sheet.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar together, stirring constantly until it reaches a boil.
  4. Boil the mixture for 3 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract if using.
  5. Quickly pour the hot toffee over the crackers and spread evenly with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 5–7 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
  7. While baking, mix the cinnamon and granulated sugar in a small bowl.
  8. Remove toffee from oven and immediately sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  9. Let cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for 30–60 minutes until fully set.
  10. Break into pieces and serve or store.

Notes

Line the baking sheet with foil or parchment to prevent sticking.Add chopped nuts before baking for extra crunch.Use gluten-free crackers for a gluten-free version.For a spicy twist, add a pinch of cayenne to the cinnamon-sugar mix.
