Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk)
- Optional frosting or sprinkles for decorating
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8- or 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until edges are golden and center is set. Do not overbake.
- Cool completely in the pan. Once cooled, decorate with frosting and sprinkles if desired.
- Slice and serve.
