Description

Crispy cheesy hash brown patties are golden brown on the outside, tender inside, and filled with melty cheese. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a versatile side dish, these patties are easy to make and freezer-friendly.


Ingredients

  • 2 large russet potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp flour or cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Oil or butter, for frying

Instructions

  1. Grate the potatoes and squeeze out excess water with a kitchen towel.
  2. In a large bowl, mix grated potatoes with cheddar, Parmesan, egg, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Shape the mixture into patties, pressing firmly to hold their shape.
  4. Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Cook patties for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove and drain on a paper towel–lined plate. Serve hot.

Notes

Add chopped green onions or fresh herbs for extra flavor.Mix in jalapeños for a spicy twist.Swap cheddar for mozzarella or Monterey Jack for a different cheesy melt.To make gluten-free, use cornstarch instead of flour.Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
