Description
Crockpot applesauce is an easy, homemade treat made with fresh apples, cooked low and slow in a slow cooker for a naturally sweet, cozy snack or side dish. It’s customizable, kid-friendly, and perfect for fall or year-round enjoyment.
Ingredients
- 3 lbs fresh apples (about 6–8 medium apples), peeled, cored, and chopped
- 1/2 cup water or apple juice
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1–2 tbsp sugar, maple syrup, or honey (optional, to taste)
Instructions
- Peel, core, and chop the apples into chunks.
- Place apples in the crockpot and add water (or apple juice), lemon juice, and cinnamon if using.
- Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or on high for 3–4 hours until apples are soft and breaking apart.
- Stir well, then mash with a potato masher for chunky texture or blend for smooth applesauce using an immersion blender or regular blender.
- Taste and add sweetener if desired, stirring to dissolve.
- Let cool before serving or storing in the refrigerator or freezer.
