Description

Croissant French Toast Casserole is an indulgent breakfast or brunch dish made with buttery croissants, a creamy custard base, and a hint of cinnamon and vanilla. This dish is baked to golden perfection, with a crispy top and soft, custard-filled center. Perfect for feeding a crowd or a cozy morning at home!

Ingredients

  • 4 large croissants (preferably day-old)

  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the baking dish)

  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

  • Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.

  • Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and layer them evenly in the prepared baking dish.

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.

  • Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissant pieces, pressing them down gently to ensure the croissants soak up the custard.

  • Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight, to allow the croissants to absorb the custard.

  • When you’re ready to bake, remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes.

  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy, and the center is set.

  • Let the casserole cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with warm maple syrup.
