Description

Death by Chocolate Poke Cake is the ultimate chocolate lover’s dream. A moist chocolate cake soaked in rich chocolate sauce, topped with fluffy whipped cream, mini chocolate chips, and finished with a drizzle of chocolate syrup. This indulgent dessert is perfect for any occasion and will satisfy even the deepest chocolate cravings.

Ingredients

  • For the cake:
    • 1 box chocolate cake mix (or homemade chocolate cake)
    • 3 large eggs
    • 1 cup water
    • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • For the chocolate sauce:
    • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
    • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1/4 cup milk
  • For the topping:
    • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
    • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
    • Chocolate syrup (optional)
    • Cocoa powder (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. For the cake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix according to package instructions. Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let the cake cool for 10-15 minutes.
  2. For the chocolate sauce: In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, and milk. Stir constantly over medium heat until the chocolate chips melt and the sauce is smooth. Set aside.
  3. Soak the cake: Use a fork or skewer to poke holes all over the warm cake. Pour the chocolate sauce over the cake, allowing it to soak into the holes. Let the cake cool completely.
  4. For the topping: Beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the cooled cake.
  5. Garnish: Sprinkle mini chocolate chips over the whipped cream. Drizzle with chocolate syrup and dust with cocoa powder if desired.
  6. Serve: Chill for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld and make slicing easier. Enjoy!

Notes

Variation: Add crushed peanut butter cups for a peanut butter and chocolate twist.Double Chocolate: Add a layer of chocolate pudding between the cake and whipped cream for an even richer experience.Tropical Twist: Add crushed pineapple to the whipped cream for a fruity contrast to the chocolate.
