Description

Spaghetti Pie is a comforting, hearty dish that combines the best of spaghetti and pie. With a crispy, cheesy pasta crust, savory meat sauce, and rich cheese filling, it’s a fun twist on traditional pasta and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz spaghetti (cooked and drained)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 lb ground beef  or ground turkey, chicken
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or a deep-dish pie plate with cooking spray or butter.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti, melted butter, Parmesan cheese, and beaten egg. Mix well until the spaghetti is fully coated.
  3. Press the spaghetti mixture into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pie dish, forming a crust. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the crust is lightly golden and set.
  4. While the crust is baking, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces. Drain any excess fat.
  5. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the meat. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 5-7 minutes to thicken slightly. Remove from heat.
  6. Once the spaghetti crust is done, remove it from the oven. Spread a layer of ricotta cheese over the crust. Then, spoon the meat sauce mixture over the ricotta.
  7. Top the meat sauce with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
  8. Return the pie to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the crust edges are golden brown.
  9. Let the pie cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
  10. Serve with a side of salad or garlic bread and enjoy!
