Ingredients
- 8 oz spaghetti (cooked and drained)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey, chicken
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or a deep-dish pie plate with cooking spray or butter.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti, melted butter, Parmesan cheese, and beaten egg. Mix well until the spaghetti is fully coated.
- Press the spaghetti mixture into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pie dish, forming a crust. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the crust is lightly golden and set.
- While the crust is baking, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the meat. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 5-7 minutes to thicken slightly. Remove from heat.
- Once the spaghetti crust is done, remove it from the oven. Spread a layer of ricotta cheese over the crust. Then, spoon the meat sauce mixture over the ricotta.
- Top the meat sauce with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Return the pie to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the crust edges are golden brown.
- Let the pie cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
- Serve with a side of salad or garlic bread and enjoy!
