Description
These Dinner Rolls are soft, fluffy, and buttery with a golden crust—perfect as a side dish for any meal. Easy to make and irresistibly good, they’re ideal for holidays or everyday dinners.
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- Optional: 2 tbsp melted butter for brushing after baking
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and 1 tsp of sugar in warm milk. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide into 12–16 equal pieces. Shape into balls and place in a greased baking dish or sheet.
- Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 15–20 minutes or until tops are golden brown.
- Brush hot rolls with melted butter if desired. Let cool slightly before serving.
