Description
Easy Chicken Marsala is a comforting dish featuring tender chicken breasts cooked in a rich, flavorful Marsala wine sauce with earthy mushrooms and a touch of cream. It’s a quick and simple meal perfect for weeknights or special occasions.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 8 oz cremini or white mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup Marsala wine (dry or sweet)
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional, for a creamier sauce)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then dredge in flour, shaking off the excess.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and cook the chicken breasts for 4-5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F or 74°C). Remove the chicken and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and cook the mushrooms for 5-6 minutes until soft and browned. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Pour in the Marsala wine and scrape up any brown bits from the skillet. Let the wine simmer for 2-3 minutes. Add chicken broth and simmer for another 3-4 minutes.
- If desired, stir in the heavy cream and continue to simmer for 2-3 minutes. Return the chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over it, and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with your favorite sides.
