Ingredients
- 6 cups bread cubes (French bread, brioche, or challah)
- 2 cups canned or fresh peaches, sliced
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 4 large eggs
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
- 3 tbsp butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Cut bread into cubes and place evenly in the baking dish. Scatter peach slices over the bread.
- In a large bowl, whisk together milk, cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Pour custard mixture evenly over bread and peaches, pressing gently so bread absorbs liquid.
- Drizzle melted butter over the top.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, until golden brown and center is set.
- Let cool slightly before serving warm or chilled.
