A rich, dense, and fudgy flourless chocolate torte that’s naturally gluten-free. Perfect for special occasions or as a luxurious treat, this elegant dessert features deep chocolate flavor and a smooth texture.
Ingredients
- 8 oz (225g) dark chocolate (bittersweet or semisweet), chopped
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 cup (25g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- Melt the chopped dark chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and granulated sugar until pale and thick, about 3-4 minutes.
- Gradually mix in the melted chocolate and butter mixture until well combined.
- Add the cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir until the batter is smooth and fully incorporated.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until the torte is set around the edges but still slightly soft in the center.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- Once cooled, remove the torte from the pan. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or cocoa powder before serving.
Notes
For a more intense flavor, add 1 tsp of instant espresso powder.Try mixing in orange zest or liqueur like Grand Marnier for added depth.Top with whipped cream, ganache, or fresh berries for extra indulgence.Store at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 5 days.Freeze tightly wrapped for up to 2 months; thaw in the fridge overnight.
