Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, melted (or dark chocolate)
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (chilled)
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional, for sweetness)
- Whipped cream (optional, for garnish)
- Shaved chocolate or chocolate chips (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract. Mix well. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Stir in the flour and salt until fully combined.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before adding the French silk topping.
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter and melted chocolate together until smooth and creamy. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue to beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- In a separate mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar (if desired) until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate-butter mixture until fully combined, maintaining the airy texture.
- Once the brownies have cooled completely, spread the French silk topping evenly over the top of the brownies.
- Refrigerate the brownies for at least 2 hours to allow the French silk topping to set and firm up.
- Once chilled, cut the brownies into squares. Garnish with whipped cream and shaved chocolate or chocolate chips if desired.
- Enjoy your decadent, silky-smooth French Silk Brownies!
Notes
You can add nuts like walnuts, pecans, or almonds to the brownie base for added crunch. If you prefer a sweeter topping, use milk chocolate instead of semi-sweet chocolate. If you’re looking for a gluten-free version, replace the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
