Description

Frito Pie is a nostalgic comfort food made by layering crunchy Fritos corn chips, hearty homemade chili, and melted cheese for the ultimate crowd-pleasing dish. Perfect for game nights, potlucks, or casual family dinners, it’s quick to prepare and endlessly customizable.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans or pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 cups Fritos corn chips
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or Mexican blend)
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, diced green onions, jalapeños, chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until beef is browned and onion is softened. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and beans. Stir well and let simmer for 10–15 minutes to blend flavors.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Spread a layer of Fritos corn chips in the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Spoon the chili mixture over the chips, then sprinkle generously with cheese.
  7. Repeat layers if desired, finishing with cheese on top.
  8. Bake for 10–15 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes
