Description
Grilled Chicken Drumsticks are juicy, flavorful, and easy to make. Marinated in spices and grilled until crispy and charred, they’re perfect for barbecues, family dinners, or meal prep.
Ingredients
- 8–10 chicken drumsticks (skin-on)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika or smoked paprika
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Optional: 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Optional: 1/2 tsp chili powder or cayenne pepper
- Optional: BBQ sauce for brushing
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add lemon juice or chili powder for extra flavor if desired.
- Pat drumsticks dry and toss them in the marinade until evenly coated.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight.
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat (375°F–400°F).
- Place drumsticks on the grill and cook for 25–30 minutes, turning every 5–7 minutes to cook evenly and prevent burning.
- Optional: Brush with BBQ sauce during the last 5 minutes of grilling.
- Check for doneness using a meat thermometer—internal temp should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Remove from grill and let rest a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Add cayenne or hot sauce for a spicy version.Use soy sauce, garlic, and ginger for an Asian-style marinade.Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 35–40 minutes if you don’t have a grill.Use indirect heat after crisping the skin for juicier drumsticks.Let leftovers cool completely before storing in the fridge or freezer.
