Description
Haystacks are no-bake clusters made with melted chocolate or butterscotch mixed with crunchy chow mein noodles, peanuts, or other add-ins. These quick and easy sweet-and-salty treats are perfect for holidays, parties, or anytime snacking.
Ingredients
- 1 (11 oz) bag butterscotch chips or chocolate chips (milk, semi-sweet, or white)
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter (optional)
- 2 1/2 cups crunchy chow mein noodles
- 1/2 cup salted peanuts (optional)
- 1/2 cup mini marshmallows, shredded coconut, or holiday sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt butterscotch or chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
- Stir in peanut butter (if using) until fully combined and creamy.
- Gently fold in chow mein noodles and any additional mix-ins (peanuts, marshmallows, etc.) until evenly coated.
- Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Let the haystacks set at room temperature until firm, or refrigerate for 15–20 minutes.
- Once set, store in an airtight container until ready to serve.
