Description

Homemade Artisan Crackers are crisp, golden, and made with just a few simple ingredients. Customizable with herbs, seeds, or spices, these crackers are a wholesome and elegant addition to cheese boards, snacks, or soups.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Optional add-ins: 1–2 tsp dried herbs (rosemary, thyme, oregano)
  • Optional: 1–2 tbsp seeds (sesame, flax, poppy)
  • Optional: 1/2 tsp cracked pepper or garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add olive oil and water, stirring until a dough forms.
  3. Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface and knead briefly until smooth.
  4. Divide dough in half. Roll each half very thin (about 1/16 inch) between two sheets of parchment paper.
  5. Remove the top parchment sheet. Cut dough into cracker shapes using a pizza cutter or knife.
  6. Sprinkle with desired toppings (herbs, seeds, salt) and press gently into dough.
  7. Transfer parchment with dough onto baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10–15 minutes, rotating trays halfway through, until crackers are golden and crisp.
  9. Cool completely before breaking apart and serving.

Notes

Roll dough as thin as possible for extra crispiness.Use a gluten-free flour blend to make this recipe gluten-free.For cheesy crackers, add 1/4 cup grated Parmesan to the dough. If crackers soften over time, re-crisp in a 300°F oven for 5–7 minutes.Dough can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 1 day.
