Description

Homemade Blue Cheese Dressing is a rich, tangy, and creamy dressing made with real blue cheese crumbles — perfect for salads, dipping veggies, wings, or drizzling over burgers.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 24 tbsp buttermilk (or milk with lemon juice), to desired consistency
  • 1 tbsp white wine vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder or 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder (optional)
  • 1/3 cup blue cheese crumbles
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh chives or parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise and sour cream (or Greek yogurt) until smooth.
  2. Stir in the buttermilk a little at a time until the dressing reaches your desired consistency.
  3. Add vinegar or lemon juice, garlic powder or minced garlic, and onion powder (if using). Mix well.
  4. Gently fold in the blue cheese crumbles, leaving some chunks for texture.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld before serving.

Notes

Use less buttermilk for a thicker dressing or more for a pourable consistency. For a smoother texture, blend the dressing in a food processor or blender.Add fresh herbs like parsley, chives, or dill for extra flavor.Store in the fridge up to 7 days in a sealed container.Stir in a splash of buttermilk or milk if the dressing thickens too much after chilling.
