Description

Homemade guacamole is a creamy, flavorful dip made from ripe avocados, lime juice, garlic, and fresh herbs. Quick to make and full of healthy fats, it’s perfect with chips, tacos, or as a topping for your favorite dishes.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 12 tablespoons fresh lime juice (to taste)
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 small jalapeño or serrano pepper, minced (optional, for heat)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 Roma tomato, diced (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Add the lime juice and mash the avocado with a fork or potato masher to your preferred consistency (chunky or smooth).
  3. Stir in the red onion, cilantro, garlic, and jalapeño (if using).
  4. Fold in diced tomato, if using, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Taste and adjust lime, salt, or spice levels as needed. Serve immediately with chips or your favorite dishes.

Notes

To prevent browning, press plastic wrap directly against the surface of the guacamole when storing. For a smoother guac, mash the avocado more thoroughly and omit chunky mix-ins like tomato. For extra flavor, add a pinch of ground cumin or a dash of hot sauce.
