Description

Honey Glazed Salmon is a simple yet elegant dish that pairs tender, flaky salmon with a deliciously sweet and savory glaze made from honey, soy sauce, garlic, and lemon. The glaze caramelizes perfectly, giving the salmon a crispy exterior while keeping the inside moist and flavorful. Quick to prepare and packed with nutrients, this dish is perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner or a special occasion meal.

Ingredients

For the salmon:

  • 4 salmon fillets (skin-on or skinless)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

For the honey glaze:

  • 3 tablespoons honey

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)

  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger (optional, for added depth)

For garnish (optional):

  • Fresh parsley or cilantro (chopped)

  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

  • Prepare the salmon:

    • Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to ensure a crispy crust.

    • Season both sides of the salmon with salt and pepper.

  • Make the honey glaze:

    • In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, garlic, and grated ginger (if using). Set aside.

  • Cook the salmon:

    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

    • Add the salmon fillets to the skillet, skin-side down if using skin-on salmon. Cook for 4-5 minutes on the first side until golden and crispy. Flip the fillets carefully and cook for an additional 2-4 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 145°F/63°C).

  • Add the glaze:

    • Lower the heat to medium and pour the honey glaze over the cooked salmon fillets.

    • Allow the glaze to simmer for 1-2 minutes, spooning it over the salmon as it thickens and caramelizes.

  • Serve:

    • Once the salmon is nicely glazed and caramelized, remove it from the heat.

    • Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro, and serve with lemon wedges on the side

Notes

For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes, chili paste, or a dash of Sriracha to the glaze.Try using fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, or dill in the glaze for added aroma.Grilled salmon can also be made by brushing the glaze over the fillets during the last few minutes of grilling. For a slightly different flavor, substitute maple syrup for honey.
