Description

Apple Kugel is a traditional Jewish baked dish made with tender egg noodles, spiced apples, and a sweet custard-like filling. It’s creamy inside, golden on top, and perfect as a holiday side or dessert.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz wide egg noodles (or matzo for Passover)
  • 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced thin
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook egg noodles according to package instructions until just tender. Drain well.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, sour cream, cottage cheese, vanilla, and cinnamon until smooth.
  4. Fold in cooked noodles, sliced apples, and raisins if using. Pour in melted butter and mix until evenly coated.
  5. Transfer mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading evenly.
  6. Bake for 45–55 minutes, until the top is golden brown and custard is set.
  7. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
