Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2–3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (for glaze)
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in the lemon juice and zest.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the brownies are cooling, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest until smooth.
- Once the brownies are mostly cool, pour the glaze over the top and spread evenly. Let it set before slicing and serving.
