Description

Microwave Rice Krispies Treats are a quick, easy, and delicious twist on the classic Rice Krispies treats, made in just a few minutes with the help of your microwave. With minimal ingredients, this no-bake treat is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 10 oz (1 package) mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Melt the marshmallows and butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, add the butter and marshmallows. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue microwaving in 15-second intervals, stirring after each, until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
  3. Add the Rice Krispies: Stir in the vanilla extract (if using). Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture and stir until the cereal is fully coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  4. Press into the pan: Pour the Rice Krispies mixture into the prepared baking dish. Using a spatula or a piece of wax paper, gently press the mixture into an even layer.
  5. Let it cool: Allow the treats to cool for about 30 minutes before cutting them into squares or rectangles. If you want them to cool faster, you can place the pan in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes.

Notes

These treats are best served fresh, but you can store them for up to 3 days at room temperature. For added texture and flavor, try adding chocolate chips, sprinkles, or nuts.
