Description

No Knead Bread is an easy, rustic, artisan-style loaf with a chewy crust and soft, airy interior. Made with minimal ingredients and no kneading required, it’s perfect for beginners or anyone wanting fresh homemade bread with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast or instant yeast
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • Cornmeal or additional flour, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add the warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean towel and let the dough rest at room temperature for 12–18 hours.
  4. After rising, turn the dough out onto a floured surface.
  5. Gently shape the dough into a ball without kneading and cover it with a towel. Let it rest for 30–60 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, place a Dutch oven (or heavy oven-safe pot with lid) into the oven and preheat to 450°F (232°C) for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Carefully transfer the dough into the hot pot, seam-side up. Sprinkle with cornmeal or flour if desired.
  8. Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the lid and bake for another 10–15 minutes until the crust is deep golden brown.
  10. Remove the bread from the pot and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

Use bread flour instead of all-purpose for a chewier texture.Add herbs, garlic, or cheese for variations in flavor.Ensure the Dutch oven is preheated well to get a good crust.Let the bread cool fully before slicing to avoid a gummy interior. The dough will be sticky—handle with floured hands or a bench scraper.
