Description

Old Fashioned Goulash is a hearty one-pot comfort food made with ground beef, tender elbow macaroni, and a savory tomato sauce. Perfect for family dinners, this nostalgic dish is flavorful, budget-friendly, and easy to prepare.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth or water
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  2. Add diced onion and minced garlic; cook until softened and fragrant.
  3. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then stir in the uncooked elbow macaroni.
  5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until pasta is tender, about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. If desired, stir in shredded cheddar cheese or sprinkle on top before serving.
