Description

Olive Garden Breadsticks are soft, fluffy, and brushed with savory garlic butter. This homemade version delivers the same warm, pillowy texture and golden crust as the restaurant favorite, making them the perfect side for pasta, soups, or salads.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for dough)
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp olive oil (optional, for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add salt, flour, and 2 tbsp melted butter, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 7–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough, divide into 12 equal pieces, and roll into breadstick shapes.
  6. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  8. Bake breadsticks for 12–14 minutes, until golden brown.
  9. While baking, mix 3 tbsp melted butter with garlic powder and onion powder.
