Description

Oreo Buttercream Icing is a rich and indulgent frosting made with creamy butter, powdered sugar, and crunchy Oreo bits, perfect for cakes, cupcakes, cookies, or even as a dip.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (or milk for a lighter version)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 Oreo cookies, crushed (more for garnish, if desired)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer on medium-high speed for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed until fully incorporated.
  3. Add the heavy cream (or milk), vanilla extract, and pinch of salt, then beat for 2-3 minutes until fluffy and smooth. Adjust consistency with more cream if needed.
  4. Crush the Oreo cookies into small chunks using a food processor or a zip-top bag.
  5. Gently fold in the crushed Oreos into the buttercream until evenly mixed.
  6. Frost your cupcakes, cakes, or cookies with the Oreo buttercream. Garnish with more crushed Oreos, if desired.

Notes

For a richer chocolate flavor, add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder to the frosting.For a minty twist, swap in Mint Oreos for the classic version.If you’re short on time, use store-bought buttercream and mix in the crushed Oreos.
