Description
Oreo Buttercream Icing is a rich and indulgent frosting made with creamy butter, powdered sugar, and crunchy Oreo bits, perfect for cakes, cupcakes, cookies, or even as a dip.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (or milk for a lighter version)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 Oreo cookies, crushed (more for garnish, if desired)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer on medium-high speed for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed until fully incorporated.
- Add the heavy cream (or milk), vanilla extract, and pinch of salt, then beat for 2-3 minutes until fluffy and smooth. Adjust consistency with more cream if needed.
- Crush the Oreo cookies into small chunks using a food processor or a zip-top bag.
- Gently fold in the crushed Oreos into the buttercream until evenly mixed.
- Frost your cupcakes, cakes, or cookies with the Oreo buttercream. Garnish with more crushed Oreos, if desired.
Notes
For a richer chocolate flavor, add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder to the frosting.For a minty twist, swap in Mint Oreos for the classic version.If you’re short on time, use store-bought buttercream and mix in the crushed Oreos.
