Description

Protein hot chocolate is a warm, creamy drink that combines the indulgent flavor of classic hot cocoa with the added benefit of protein, making it both comforting and nourishing.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 scoop protein powder (chocolate or vanilla)
  • 12 tsp maple syrup, honey, or sweetener of choice
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, shaved dark chocolate, cinnamon, or cacao nibs

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, warm the almond milk over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
  2. Whisk in cocoa powder, sweetener, vanilla extract, and sea salt until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before adding protein powder to avoid clumping.
  4. Blend with an immersion blender or whisk until smooth and frothy.
  5. Pour into a mug and top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or cinnamon if desired.

Notes

Use chocolate protein powder for a richer cocoa flavor or vanilla for a lighter taste.Add cinnamon, nutmeg, or pumpkin spice for a seasonal twist.Stir in nut butter for extra creaminess.Make it peppermint by adding a drop of peppermint extract. For a thicker drink, replace part of the milk with canned coconut milk.
