Description

This Puff Pastry Apple Tart is a quick and elegant dessert featuring flaky puff pastry, thinly sliced apples, and a glossy glaze. It’s easy to make and perfect for both casual and special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 23 apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Granny Smith), thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar or brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp apricot jam or honey (for glaze)
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (for dusting surface)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle or square about 1/4 inch thick. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon (if using).
  4. Arrange the apple slices neatly over the pastry, overlapping slightly and leaving a 1/2-inch border.
  5. Optionally, sprinkle a bit more sugar on top for added caramelization.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  7. While the tart bakes, warm the apricot jam or honey until it becomes liquid.
  8. Brush the warm glaze over the apples as soon as the tart comes out of the oven.
  9. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use firm apples to ensure they hold their shape while baking.Peeling apples is optional—skins add color and texture. For extra flavor, add nutmeg or cardamom to the cinnamon.Avoid overloading with apples to prevent sogginess.Pairs well with ice cream or whipped cream.
