Description

Puff pastry pizza is a flaky, golden twist on traditional pizza that uses buttery puff pastry for a crisp base topped with sauce, cheese, and your favorite toppings. Quick, easy, and endlessly customizable, it’s perfect for a snack, meal, or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Your choice of toppings (pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, olives, etc.)
  • Fresh basil or arugula (optional, for garnish)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to smooth out the folds. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Lightly score a 1/2-inch border around the edges of the pastry without cutting all the way through. Prick the center with a fork to prevent puffing.
  4. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce inside the scored border.
  5. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the sauce.
  6. Add your desired toppings and season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  7. Brush the outer crust with olive oil for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil or arugula if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

Use a light layer of sauce and avoid overly wet toppings to maintain a crisp crust.Pricking the center of the puff pastry prevents excessive puffing and helps it bake evenly.Reheat leftovers in an oven or toaster oven for best texture—avoid microwaving.Customize with different sauces (BBQ, garlic cream) and cheeses (provolone, goat cheese).Make it vegetarian by using only plant-based toppings.
