Description

The Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie is a warm, gooey, oversized cookie baked in a cast iron skillet with crisp edges, a soft center, and melty chocolate chips—perfect for sharing with a scoop of ice cream.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened or melted)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or chunks
  • Optional: flake salt for topping, ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet or oven-safe pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined.
  4. Stir in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
  6. Fold in most of the chocolate chips, reserving a few for the top.
  7. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared skillet and press the remaining chocolate chips on top.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the edges are golden and the center is just set but still soft.
  9. Let cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. Top with ice cream, if desired.
