Slow Cooker Apple Crisp is a warm, comforting dessert made with spiced apples and a buttery oat crumble topping. It’s an easy, hands-off way to enjoy the classic fall treat without using your oven.
Ingredients
- 6–8 apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional)
- For the topping:
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Peel, core, and slice the apples, then toss them in a large bowl with lemon juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch (if using).
- Lightly grease the insert of your slow cooker and pour in the apple mixture.
- In a separate bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, melted butter, and vanilla extract until coarse crumbs form.
- Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 3–4 hours or on high for 2–2.5 hours, until apples are tender and topping is set.
- For a crispier topping, uncover the slow cooker during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
- Serve warm on its own or with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
