Description

These Slow Cooker Foil-Wrapped Baked Apples are a warm and comforting dessert made with tender apples filled with brown sugar, cinnamon, raisins, and nuts. Slowly cooked in foil packets, the apples become soft, sweet, and perfectly spiced. This easy slow cooker dessert is perfect for cozy evenings, holidays, or a simple homemade treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 large baking apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, Granny Smith, or Braeburn)

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • ¼ cup raisins

  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • Wash and dry the apples thoroughly.

  • Using an apple corer or a small knife, remove the core from each apple while leaving the bottom intact so the filling stays inside.

  • In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, and chopped nuts.

  • Place each apple on a square piece of aluminum foil.

  • Fill the center of each apple with the prepared sugar mixture.

  • Top each apple with 1 tablespoon of butter and add a few drops of vanilla extract.

  • Lightly drizzle lemon juice over the apples to balance the sweetness.

  • Wrap each apple tightly in the foil to form sealed packets.

  • Place the foil-wrapped apples in the slow cooker.

  • Cover and cook on low for 3–4 hours or until the apples are tender.

  • Carefully remove the foil packets and transfer the apples to serving dishes.

  • Spoon any juices from the foil over the apples before serving

Notes

Firm apple varieties work best because they hold their shape during cooking. The foil helps keep the apples moist and allows the flavors to concentrate.Add oats to the filling for a crumble-like texture. For extra sweetness, drizzle caramel sauce before serving. These apples taste amazing served warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
