Description
Slow Cooker Fried Apples are tender, caramelized apple slices slow-cooked with butter, cinnamon, and sugar until rich and syrupy. They’re perfect as a side dish, a topping for pancakes or ice cream, or a cozy dessert on their own.
Ingredients
- 6 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Peel, core, and slice apples into even wedges.
- Place apples in the slow cooker.
- Add butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), vanilla extract, lemon juice, and salt.
- Stir to coat apples evenly in the mixture.
- Cover and cook on low for 3–4 hours, or until apples are tender and syrupy.
- Stir gently before serving warm.
Notes
- Granny Smith apples give a tart balance, while Honeycrisp or Fuji provide more natural sweetness.Cook on high for 1½–2 hours if you need them quicker, but low heat caramelizes better.Add dried cranberries or nuts for extra texture and flavor.For a chunky applesauce consistency, mash lightly before serving.Freeze in portions up to 2 months; thaw and reheat gently before serving.
