Description

Slow Cooker Fried Apples are tender, caramelized apple slices slow-cooked with butter, cinnamon, and sugar until rich and syrupy. They’re perfect as a side dish, a topping for pancakes or ice cream, or a cozy dessert on their own.

Ingredients

  • 6 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and slice apples into even wedges.
  2. Place apples in the slow cooker.
  3. Add butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), vanilla extract, lemon juice, and salt.
  4. Stir to coat apples evenly in the mixture.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 3–4 hours, or until apples are tender and syrupy.
  6. Stir gently before serving warm.

Notes

  • Granny Smith apples give a tart balance, while Honeycrisp or Fuji provide more natural sweetness.Cook on high for 1½–2 hours if you need them quicker, but low heat caramelizes better.Add dried cranberries or nuts for extra texture and flavor. For a chunky applesauce consistency, mash lightly before serving.Freeze in portions up to 2 months; thaw and reheat gently before serving.
