Description

Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken is a tender, juicy dish made with sweet and savory flavors like honey, soy sauce, garlic, and vinegar. This easy, hands-off recipe delivers rich flavor with minimal effort, perfect for weeknights or meal prep.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce (use low sodium if preferred)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water (for slurry)
  • Green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, garlic, ketchup, and vinegar until well combined.
  3. Pour the sauce over the chicken.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  5. Remove the chicken and set it aside. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to make a slurry.
  6. Stir the slurry into the sauce in the slow cooker, then return the chicken to the pot.
  7. Cook on high for another 15–20 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
  8. Shred the chicken or leave it whole, stirring to coat in the sauce.
  9. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving, if desired.
