Description
State Fair Totchos are a playful twist on nachos, swapping tortilla chips for crispy tater tots and loading them with cheese, seasoned meat, and fresh toppings. Perfect for parties, game days, or family nights, they’re indulgent, customizable, and ready in about 35 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots
- 1 lb ground beef or chicken
- 2 tbsp taco seasoning
- 2 cups shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup salsa or pico de gallo
- Jalapeño slices (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Bake or air fry tater tots according to package directions until crispy and golden.
- While tots cook, brown ground beef or chicken in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat, then stir in taco seasoning and a splash of water. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Arrange cooked tater tots in a single layer on a large oven-safe platter or baking sheet.
- Sprinkle seasoned meat over tots, then top with shredded cheese.
- Broil for 1–2 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from oven and top with sour cream, salsa, jalapeños, green onions, and cilantro.
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Notes
Air frying tots makes them extra crispy.For a spicier version, use hot taco seasoning or pepper jack cheese.Assemble just before serving to prevent sogginess.
